MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

Outlined below is a list of MoU’s signed by the MSG Secretariat

International Coconut Community (ICC)

Headquarter (HQ) : Jakarta, Indonesia

A 3-year MOU signed between the Director General of the MSG and the Executive Director of the ICC on 29 November 2018. The agreed areas of cooperation in the MOU are:

i. Capacity Building and Training programs for MSG members particularly with research and training facilities with Member states of ICC such as Sri Lanka Coconut Research Institute;

ii. Advisory Support;

iii. Strengthen Agriculture/Coconut linkages with stakeholders as identified under Article 2

Oceania Customs Organisation Secretariat (OCO)

HQ: Suva – Fiji Islands

A 3-year MOU signed between the Director General of the MSG and the Head of Secretariat of OCO on 13 November 2018. The agreed areas of cooperation in the MOU are:

i. Trade Facilitation,
ii. Revenue Mobilisation,
iii. Border Enforcement,
iv. Trade Security and
v. Customs related activities

International Institution for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA)

HQ: Sweden with Pacific Office in Canberra, Australia

A 3-year MOU signed between the Director General of the MSG and the Secretary General of the IDEA on 25th February 2019. The agreed areas of cooperation in the MOU are:

i. Democracy and Governance
ii. Joint Research/Publishing
iii. Elections
iv. Leadership Training
v. Attachment

International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies Secretariat (IFACCA)

HQ: Sydney, Australia

A 1-year MOU was signed between the Director General of the MSG and the Executive Director of IFACCA on 21 September 2018. The agreed areas of cooperation in the MOU are:

i. Project based collaboration;

ii. Mutually relevant projects based one each organisation’s strategic and annual workplan;

iii. Attendance of staff in relevant events organised or supported by either organisation; and

iv. Organisational learning, knowledge sharing and capacity development.

Pacific Community (SPC)

HQ: New Caledonia

A 3-year MOU was signed between the Director Generals of the MSG and the SPC in 2018. The agreed areas of cooperation between our organisations are

i. Sustainable Energy – Geothermal;
ii. Fisheries – MSG Coastal Fisheries Roadmap;
iii. Sub regional cucumber management;
iv. Albacore Tuna including scientific advice on status;
v. Inshore fisheries;
vi. Shipping;
vii. Agriculture;
viii. Statistics and Database;
ix. Capacity Development; and
x. Human Rights

Africa, Caribbean and Pacific Secretariat (ACP)

HQ: Brussels, Belgium

A 5-year MOU was signed between the Deputy Director General of the MSG and the Secretary General of the ACP Secretariats on 8 December 2015. The agreed terms of cooperation between our organisations are:

i. Trade;
ii. Private Sector Development;
iii. Economic Management;
iv. Good Governance;
v. Human Rights;
vi. Rule of Law and sustainable development;
vii. Funding for EDF 11;
viii. Collaboration and technical assistance support towards project identification and action document for MSG Private Sector Strategy for financing under EDF 11;
ix. Staff Placement with each other organisation’s HQ; and
x. Others.

South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO)

HQ: Suva, Fiji

A 5-year MOU was signed between the Acting Director General of the MSG Secretariat and the CEO of SPTO on 24 October 2017. The agreed terms of cooperation between our organisations are:

i. Collaboration and Partnership in tourism planning;
ii. Tourism policy making;
iii. Environmental and Commercial Sustainability;
iv. Information and data sharing;
v. Event planning and organisation;
vi. Collaborate with airlines on product development and packaging; and
vii. Capacity building and training.
